Since the 6 road workers were killed in 2023 by a now-criminal driver, Governor Moore established a task force that recommended much stronger electronic speed enforcement in Maryland work zones. The MD General Assembly overwhelmingly passed a bill introduced by Senate President Bill Ferguson that took final effect midnight, December 31, 2024.
