About John

John Becker and his wife Joan live in Rockville Town Center, directly across from the Rockville Metro station.

 

Due to the pedestrian, bicyclist injuries and deaths as well as the speeding on Rockville Pike and the associated excessively loud vehicle exhaust noise,

​

John became involved with Safe Roads Maryland (Maryland Coalition for Roadway Safety, Inc.) as a board member and supporter of road way safety efforts.

 

John has testified before the Maryland General Assembly House of Delegates and Senate committees on roadway safety, vehicle noise and maintaining and increasing the number of speed cameras on Route 210, Indian Head Highway.

 

Mr. Becker’s further experience includes membership in Rockville's Pedestrian Advocacy Committee, Environment Commission, the Boards and Commissions Task Force and the Compensation Commission.

 

John has served on the board of directors of his condominium and has worked in real estate management, sales and construction management.

​

He received a Bachelor of Arts from the State University of New York, Geneseo and Graduate School at the Department of City and Regional Planning at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

 

John’s participation in Safe Roads Maryland includes pursuits to maximize the safety for pedestrians, bicyclists, drivers, passengers, law enforcement, fire departments and ambulances with emergency medical technicians, roadway construction maintenance and repair personnel, as well as new road construction crews.
